Frequently Asked Questions

Will one or more of these ideas get made real?

The owners of the train station have their eye on this page, and developers from around the world have interest. No promises, but you never know. You may just spark a movement.

What are the hearts next to ideas?

Click the heart next to an idea to show your support for it. You can also Like ideas via Facebook and Retweet them via Twitter. Heart, Like, and Retweet as many ideas as you want.

If I sign in with Facebook, will my idea automatically spam my Facebook feed?

Nope! To share your idea (or anyone elses's idea) with your Facebook friends you have to hit the Like button.

Why didn't my contribution show up on the site?

We screen contributions, so it may take a few minutes to show up. If it never shows up, you probably know why (see below).

Why do you screen contributions?

We run a positive, constructive, PG-rated ship. No hatin', no trolls, and no defeatism. This site is for the win. Our guidelines might help:

  • Please do be specific when describing your vision: we need more details than "do something!"
  • Assume the building is basically staying where it is. Otherwise, we'll read and count your sentiment but may not publish it.
  • While we read every submission, please stay on-topic and constructive — this isn't an open forum for politics, venting or personal attacks.

The economics of fixing up the train station don't make sense, so why are you even trying?

Heavier-than-air flight is impossible.

I asked the train station a question and it never answered me. Wassup witdat?

The train station is very busy.

Who's running this site?

Ever heard of the Free Masons? Cool. Us too. Their building is closer to downtown Detroit and we have no affiliation with them, nor are we directly affiliated with the owners of the train station. This site was developed by LOVELAND Technologies and commissioned by a caring, independent person.

I left a voicemail or anonymous comment and want to claim it as my own. How do I do that?

Write your name in a comment on your idea and we'll hook it up.

What do you think about X or Y political issue?

This is a site about a train station.

Is that really the train station's voice on the phone?

Open the station bay doors, HAL.

What if I don't have access to the internet?

You are on the internet. But you can also text or call 313-486-0010 to speak your idea.

Is there a way to include drawings, 3D models, or other visuals as part of my idea?

We're working on it. Let us know if you're interested and we'll help. For now you can link to them.

Did you know they filmed part of Transformers in the train station?

Yes. Did you know the train station actually is a Transformer? It is capable of transforming into something new.

How do I get into the train station?

There used to be a hole in the fe... I mean, it's illegal to trespass in the station without permission. The best way for everyone to get in is to support its redevelopment!

Can I suggest a smaller, temporary, or beautification idea like "Drive-in movies on the front," or "Interview people who visit the station," or "Plant more flowers"?

Of course! It takes all kinds.

How do I suggest ideas for this website itself?

Send an email to hello@talktothestation.com.
