“I have an Idea for the station! Lets extend the people mover. There is no mass transit in Detroit. It's time to bring it back. And so just like Los Angeles has Union Station. The station here in detroit can become a main hub for the people mover, and then connect the rest of the city through this new hub! What do you think? My email address is jwscience@hotmail.com if you think it's a good Idea. I'd really like to hear what you think. Thank you. -- Jeremy Weinland”

“I think the Central Station should be restored and dedicated to Kwame Kilpatrick, the greatest Mayor that Detroit has ever had.”

“I'm an Australian that visited the USA recently. This building is magnificent and I'm sure that many tourists (myself included) would pay to see the interior and hear the history of the building and Detroit. So whatever is decided as the future purpose of the building, don't close it to tourists. ”

“Though I live in San Francisco, I consider myself a Detroiter---born and raised there. I recently read an article in the business section of the December issue of "The Metropolitan Detroit" that presented an idea for the station that made a lot of sense to me. That was to keep it as a ruin ala the Coliseum in Rome, the Acropolis in Athens, etc. and maybe using the ground floor for a museum and the top floor for other functions. But I'd take it a step further. Detroit has one of the greatest collections of early 20th Century architecture in the US. Much of it has been lost but there is ple...”

“i think it should be turned into a museum. How many of us know the bad and the good of it? How many of us young people know about our own culture anymore? I think it should be a museum and turned back into a train station as part of the historical museum. Not many of us really appreciate what we did back then nor do we value it. LETS MOVE SOME PEOPLE”

“One of the best relics of Detroit by far. Your city has some amazing architecture that should be cherished and preserved, MCS included. This building would make one heck of a snazzy hotel/casino! I do love the idea of a transportation center with trains as well - what about both? Hotel on floors 6-18 (possibly a penthouse level?), or even apartments; casino on the first 3 or 4 floors, and a train station/transfer center on ground level. It's so refreshing to hear about Detroit's resurgence as a grand city, and I wish you all the best! -Rob, Pittsburgh PA (formerly Lansing, MI)”

“I agree to bring the trains back, but it would need to be coordinated with Amtrak to utilize their existing infrastructure and clientele. There should be a small historical room to place old photos, articles, parts of the original structure. Since this was a major stop for soldiers in WWI and WWII going to war, either and ISO or Veteran's lounge on one of the lower floors. Studio or loft suites on some of the lower floors would pull in more younger business people to the area. Find a hotel chain that has a corporate culture of restoring old structures, and team up with them to utilize th...”

“Renovate the building! Bring the trains back in. Shopping, restaurants, pubs or bars, and a theater on a couple of floors. A Marriott hotel or the like on upper floors. Possibly a few floors for offices. People will come back if there's a place to go (you see this all over). Detroit is a great place!”
