“There's plenty of creative stuff and room for open space all over the city. Michigan Central needs to take advantage of the architecture it has and be the focal point of the neighborhood with the formal gardens in front of it that it was designed to have -- an open space that can be enjoyed by ALL. It's a landmark, and cities need landmarks. It IS Detroit's train station, and it's on the tracks to Canada. Get the Amtrak and Via Rail link going from Montreal to Chicago and on to Los Angeles. Detroit is the gateway to the US, and this building is it's worthy ambassador. It should be high end ...”

“You could make some of the rooms available for rent to use as studios like the Russell Industrial Center does. ”

“Each floor could be themed after Detroit in different eras; Detroit in the 20's, 30's, 40's, etcetera. There could be studios and room for make art/relaxing/reading. There is so much potential for theis space! It could have an outdoor or indoor stage for performances... The possibilities are endless. ”

“I would love to see the Michigan Central Station become a teaching facility and a creative think tank. A place for artists, musicians, writers, culinary artists, visual artists...anything creative...could be collaborated and shared with the community. Also a school where students can learn and grow in a creative environment. Maybe half school, half creative space, along with an auditorium/gallery for performances/seminars/gallery shows etc. to showcase the many "windows" of creativity to the world.”

“When I think of cities that have rehabitated abandon structures successfully, I think of Toronto's Distillery District. I feel they need to keep the feel of the former station, but add into it restaurants, shopping, and perhaps luxury condos on the top floors. There needs to be a mix of everything, but also, it needs to be BIGGER than just the station itself, it needs to go beyond, and envelope all of Corktown. It needs to become a destination for people to want to go down there, Slow's alone will not be enough of a draw.”

“Restore it to be a high efficiency rail-line. Going to major hubs or bus stations. I like the ideas of having it be a grand hall/hotel venue perhaps on the higher buildings. It's so nice traveling to other countries and big cities knowing that the public transportation is easy to use and efficient. Detroit should invest and create many more jobs.”

“There are a few things that could be done. With the return of the streetcar to Detroit with the M1 Rail Project http://www.m-1rail.com. If a rail line from the Airport will be possible (now its by buss). Then if a hich speed train system is in the works there is no better or more central place then the Michigan central station. With a train from the airport and a streetcar system then the speed train. plus the connection to Canada. there is no alternative to fix the station because there are where everything will end up eventualy. There is NO more central place in Detroit then the MCS. Don...”

“My idea is to restore the station because, I'm tired of seeing dead buildings, I'm tired of Detriot not getting recognition, I say restore the station or make it a historical museum, Detriot has enough casinos, malls, hospitals, and cafes. Make it something original and historical, make it Michigan.”

“Restore the building and make it into a historic museum to showcase it's beauty properly. But still make it useful for transportation. What it's original intentions were. This building has no reason to be destroyed. We don't need anymore casino's. ”
