“I think it would be really cool if it was kept somewhat a ruin. But referbish part of the first floor enough that there could be a train station cafe/resturant so that people could enjoy it. Also with the possibilites of there to be tours which would be a great way to recieve some income!”

“Lets try to transform the train station into a hotel and restaurants/bars. How about the same type of vibe most of the old hotels have in California. ex: Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Main floor is open and has a few cocktail bars that are pretty classy and chill. You can wonder all around the first two floors of the building. ”

“it's in a weird place for a traditional transportation center (should be more downtown), but could serve as a "park and ride" stop for downtown employees to use. building itself could house amenities to support that kind of use: offices and retail (mostly grocery and other daily stuff). there could also be a wicked museum up at top, and maybe a bar or two. ”

“Keep the main train depot, reopen the station, but, tear down the the two story building and build a glass entrance, with retail and restaurants, and, make the main part an atrium with a waterfall. Inside the main part, have restaurants and stores, and gates with big windows facing the tracks, and add more waterfalls around the main part. That would be sweet!”

“I was up in Traverse City a couple times and took a tour of the Grand Traverse Commons with developer Ray Minervini. Traverse City is only 16,000 people. Metro Detroit is over 4 million. Grand Traverse commons is an excellent example of mixed use developement of a former mental hospital easily the size of the Train Station. A market study would probably answer some of the questions accurately rather than a bunch of lame brains say things like "implode it," or "its an eyesore," "shave 10 stories off it." In fact, the Grand Traverse commons has been a VERY successful project despite the what ...”

“Despite the "Detroit Free Press" description of the station interior as "stripped by vandals and defaced by graffiti", I (and I expect many others) find its current chaotic state, with the graffiti art, debris, scavenging remains, and all, as uniquely pretty and amazingly intricate. Every room is a new wondrous universe unlike anything else. Some of that should be preserved - for its unique esthetic value (yes, it has that) and as a reminder of how easily buildings can relax to that state - and people allowed to tour those spaces safely. For a telling contrast, a part of the station, for ex...”

“Light it up at night and work towards some public visitation days so people could come inside and see it without breaking the law. You could even charge $5 admission, I know I would pay that to see a true piece of Detroit History!!!”

“The Building is a work of art, time and tech. has seemed to have forgot. Please don't let this be forgotten. This is from when being American meant something. We need to learn again. Show it proudly , Show being American we can do and build anything. We need that again.”

“Amtrak should run lines through there and let DDOT or MDOT headqauarter in the upper floors. Middle levels shops and hotel rooms. I really want to see this as a train station again and I think everyone does.... even if it won't be on the world-renown level it was before.”
